School Counselor Cooperative

School Counselor Cooperative

The School Counselor Cooperative provides opportunities for professional development and collaboration within the four components of the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs (Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning, and System Support) for school counselors and social workers in both elementary and secondary school settings. LEAs participating in this cooperative benefit from national, state, and/or local subject matter experts without having to pay high dollar speaker fees.

 Key Highlights

  • School Counselor Cooperative members attend virtual monthly Role of the School Counselor seminars that address timely and relevant topics such as Solution-Focused techniques, DBT strategies, and restorative practices.
  • New in 2024 - 2025 at no additional cost, ESC-20 is adding It Takes a Village: a one day, 6 hour session that includes community partners, school counselors and social workers. This unique addition provides participants the opportunity to network with valuable community partners and strengthen Tier 3 resources.
  • New in 2024 - 2025 at no additional cost, ESC-20 is adding the Building Your Comprehensive School Counseling Program from the Ground Up guided workshop as a benefit of cooperative membership. LEAs that need to create or enhance their programs to meet legislative requirements will receive expert level support as they undertake this process.

 Potential Cost Savings

LEAs realize a cost savings of $465 per staff member to attend the workshops and events included with cooperative membership. Additional sessions are provided at reduced rates or at no additional cost as they become available throughout the year.
