School Health Cooperative

The School Health Cooperative is designed to provide ongoing professional development and technical assistance for school health professionals (RN, LVN, MA, EMT), clinic/health assistants, school health education professionals, physical education professionals, and School Health Advisory Councils. Cooperative members may send an unlimited number of nurses, health assistants, and other health and PE staff to workshops, professional development sessions at either free or reduced rates, space permitting.

 Key Highlights

  • School Health Cooperative members attend the Annual Spring School Nurse Roundup Conference. Attendance at this event provides RNs and LVNs with up to 6 or more contact hours of nursing continuing professional development.
  • LEAs who are members of the School Health Cooperative may send any staff member to CPR, First Aid, and/or Basic Life Support Certification training sessions scheduled at ESC 20 at no cost.
  • LEAs who join the School Health Cooperative may send any staff member to Unlicensed Diabetes Care Asst. Level 1 Training held at ESC 20, for a reduced rate. LEAs are mandated to train staff to assist students with Diabetes in their care.

 Potential Cost Savings

LEAs realize a cost savings of $515 per staff member to attend the workshops and events included with cooperative membership when compared to external professional development vendors. The LEA cost savings to send any staff member to CPR, First aid Certification and UDCA Training is approximately $145.00 per person.
